Valley ENT Staff
James A. Letson, M.D.
Dr. Letson has been practicing medicine since 1969 and has been in
the Saginaw area since 1973. He obtained his Doctorate of Medicine
(M.D.) from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA. Currently, he
has hospital staff appointments at Covenant Cooper and Saginaw General
Hospital and is a member of the American Medical Association.
Furthermore, Dr. Letson enjoys teaching future physicians how to care
for individuals with ear, nose and throat concerns as he has
associations with Michigan State University, Saginaw Cooperative
Hospitals and Central Michigan University.
Dr. Letson’s hard work has not gone unnoticed, as he has been
awarded several honors. These include, Best Volunteer Faculty Member in
Saginaw Clerkship, the Heart and Torch Award by the Saginaw County High
Blood Pressure Council, The American Medical Association’s Physician’s
Recognition Award, and MSU Medical Student’s Teacher of the Year. In
addition, he has had several publications relating to his work in
medical journals such as Laryngoscope and the Annals of Otology,
Rhinology, and Laryngology and in medical books and videos.
Recently, Dr. Letson has developed a passion for researching his
family genealogy for his grandson, Hunter. He also enjoys fishing and a good joke.
Richard K. Louden, M.D.
Dr. Louden retired July 2011.
Keith Scharf, M.D.
Dr. Scharf joined the Valley ENT Associates, PC
team in 1995 when moving from New York. He received his Doctorate
of Medicine (M.D.) from Mount Sinai Medical School in New York and also
obtained his Masters of Science in Physiology from the University of
Connecticut. He completed his residency at Mount Sinai Medical
Center. Currently, Dr. Scharf has staff appointments at Covenant
and St. Mary’s Hospital.
Dr. Scharf was awarded the Lange Book Award for
Clinical Excellence and is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary
Medical Society. Furthermore, he is an Associate Professor in the
Department of Surgery for Michigan State University.
Dr. Scharf’s wife, Jonna also hails from the east coast. They
are most proud of their son Billy and enjoy being an active family
together. Dr. Scharf has run in both the New York and Boston
marathons, but has recently developed interests in cross country skiing,
fly fishing and mountain biking. They have a number of pets and
they have taken in all of their pets from adoption centers or found them
abandoned.
Brian Perry, M.D.
Dr. Perry began practicing at Valley ENT
Associates, PC in 2005. He attended the University of Michigan
Medical School in Ann Arbor and completed his Otolaryngology residency
at the University of Virginia. Dr. Perry continued his career as a
Flight Surgeon in the United States Air Force where he gained valuable
experience in varied locations and conditions throughout Asia, Africa
and the Middle East. While serving our country, Dr. Perry was
awarded the Air Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Aerial Achievement
Medal and Air Force Achievement Medal. He has staff appointments
at Covenant and St. Mary’s Hospital.
Dr. Perry and his wife, Tami, were both raised in Midland and they have
one son, William. He enjoys flying as he has his private pilot
license. Dr. Perry also enjoys astronomy, sailing, skiing,
snowboarding, travel and scuba diving.
Jayne M. Metro, M.A., CCC-A
Jayne McKenzie Metro has been a part of the Valley ENT Healthcare
family as a clinical audiologist since 1996. Currently, she is the
Director of Clinical Services in Audiology. Diagnostics,
amplification and evaluation of the dizzy patient continue to be her
main interests.
Ms. Metro graduated form Central Michigan University (CMU) as an
audiologist in 1994. Upon leaving CMU, she began her Audiology
career in Flint Michigan at an ENT’s office and in a private practice
setting.
She feels very fortunate to have chosen Audiology as a career, which
has allowed her the ability to help hearing impaired patients hear and
experience the sounds of life and to elevate the depression,
frustration, and isolation hearing loss can often cause.
Ms. Metro is a certified audiologist by the American Speech-Language
and Hearing Association (ASHA) and is also a member. Currently,
she is licensed by the State of Michigan to dispense hearing
instruments. Ms. Metro continues to attend seminars and workshops
to further her education in Audiology.
Staff
Our office manager, front staff, surgery schedulers, insurance
billing team and our exit staff are an essential part of the health care
team at Valley ENT. These individuals are competent and able to
direct the patient to the appropriate channel for their health care
